<span style="font-family: Arial"><h2 style="text-align: center">Director, Biomedical Imaging Center - Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology</h2><h3 style="text-align: center">Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology</h3><br><h4>Job Summary</h4>The BIC Director will be responsible for strategically developing and managing the MRI (3T and 9.4T) research program and operations at the Beckman Institute in direct support of the Beckman Institute Director. The BIC Director will work closely with BIC staff (e.g., research scientists, associate director, business manager) on leading strategic research, serving MRI users, developing interdisciplinary teams and building partnerships across campus as well as with external partners. The BIC Director will be responsible for overall BIC leadership, strategy and operational oversight.<h4>Duties & Responsibilities</h4><ul><li>Develop vision and long-term goals to advance MRI (3T and 9.4T) research at the Beckman Institute and the University of Illinois. Translate goals into actions for performance and growth. </li><li>Create interdisciplinary teams to respond to government and industry solicitations for funding of the equipment needs, operations and/ or research to be conducted in the BIC facilities. When appropriate, act as a Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) in submissions related to those solicitations. Oversee proposal development support for research teams using the BIC facilities, such as providing letters of support and supplementary documents as well as reviewing project descriptions. </li><li>Recruit and support new and existing users and establish new ways to expand BIC usage. </li><li>Act as the equipment custodian and point of contact to certify new pieces of equipment. </li><li>Work closely with Beckman Associate Director for Research and BIC staff in all aspects of BIC operations, including safety, research, finances, compliance and partnerships.</li><li>Provide advice on and accountability for all BIC activites to the Beckman Institute Director. </li><li>Contribute to the leadership of the campus MRI research community and foster BIC's service to campus, local, state, national and international biomedical imaging communities. Lead BIC’s engagement with other Beckman Institute units (e.g., ITS, facilities), campus units (e.g., IRB, IACUC, academic departments) as well as external vendors and partners (e.g., Siemens, Carle Foundation Hospital). </li><li>Lead the development of partnerships with healthcare systems to support translational research and facilitate technology transfers of BIC's technical products into clinical settings. </li><li>Coordinate with Carle Illinois Advanced Imaging Center’s (CI AIC) director to accomplish joint goals and mission. </li><li>Act as the point of contact to other campus units and external visitors for faculty recruitment, tours of the BIC facilities and outreach events. </li><li>Oversee lab safety and compliance in BIC. </li><li>Oversee communications and presentations. </li></ul><h4>Minimum Qualifications</h4><p>• Doctoral degree relevant to the mission and goals of the biomedical imaging center</p><p> • Outstanding record of scholarly accomplishments appropriate for a tenure-track professor at a leading research university.</p><p>• Strong leader with an exceptional record of achievements that demonstrate an understanding of multi-investigator convergent research, education and outreach activities. </p><p>• Management experience leading groups, organizations and/or programs in academia, government or the private sector.</p><p>• Candidates must either currently hold a tenure-track faculty position or have a confirmed offer for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign at the time of application.</p><h4>Appointment Information</h4><p>Thisis a 0% Academic Professional position. The expected start date is as soon aspossible after the posting period closes.&nbsp; Overall compensation (e.g.,summer salary, course buyouts, discretionary funding) may be negotiated basedon the selected candidate’s appointment and departmental needs. This willinclude a potential stipend range of $12,250 to $25,000 annually (on a 12/12service basis). Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications andexperience.
