Job Description
The Quality Assurance Specialist, under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director, with medical input from the Medical Director Laboratories of Pathology, Blood Bank Medical Director and other related Laboratory Manager/Supervisors, oversees and coordinates the quality assurance activities, requirements, licensure requirements and accreditation activities, as well as, develop quality programs of the Laboratories of Pathology. This position requires practical, as well as theoretical knowledge of test methodologies, quality control, quality assurance and competency concepts. This position also requires coordination and communication skills within the assigned departments as well as interaction with the medical and nursing staff.
Qualifications
Education and Experience - Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science required.
- Masters degree preferred.
- MT or MLS (ASCP) or equivalent (Required)
- Minimum of 4 years laboratory experience.
- Two years of Quality Assurance experience preferred and working knowledge of AABB, CLIA, CAP, FDA and Transfusion Services.
- Cerner/EPIC, LEAN or process improvement experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Demonstrated verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates basic computer literacy and the ability to coordinate and complete multiple projects in an effective, timely manner.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
